Jefferson Community Passion Procession 4/10/2004

On Good Friday, April 10, 2004 the Jefferson Community participated in a Passion Procession as a part of  the Good Friday Service at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  About 125 people from  Jefferson area community witnessed as the Christ was condemned and lead down the street by a Roman Centurion on horseback.  The procession ended with a Good Friday community worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The Christ stood at the corner of Lander Rd. and Jefferson Pike.
Pastor Ginny started the Passion Procession with a prayer and reading.
The Christ stood condemed by the crowd.
The procession lead by the Centurion and The Christ.
The Christ stumbles from the weight of his burden.
He falls to the ground unable to continue.
As he falls under the cross the Centurion persecutes him.
The Centurion enlists Simon from the crowd to help carry the cross.
The procession continues.
The procession ends as the community enters for the Good Friday service

The worship service included hymns, the reading of the Passion according to John 18:1-19:42, a solo of Watch the Lamb, a Homily by Pastor Guy and prayers.  The service ended as the cross thumped up the stairs and was dropped at the altar as the bell tolled 33 times.

Thanks to all those that helped remind us of the burden Christ took on out of love for us.
