St. Paul Care Ministries

Care Ministry

The Care ministry is a ministry at St. Paul.  Care ministers are available to provide spiritual support and companionship for the congregation’s members during times of need.  Examples of people in need can include those who are sick, homebound, terminally ill, in a pre or post surgery phase or perhaps those who are dealing with divorce, drug addiction or other social issue.

Care Ministers will not discuss or attempt to resolve a person’s problem or provide medical advice.  A care minister is a person who cares, and a person who cares is one who is present for another, especially in times of pain, loss and stress.

A Care Ministry visit will be scheduled by request from a person in need or by a family request in the case of a very ill or incapacitated individual.  Care ministers will travel and minister to individuals in their homes, hospitals, or assisted living facilities, etc.

Meals

Care ministers will provide meals for people returning home from the hospital or for those who experience the loss of a loved one. Please contact the meals coordinator to schedule a meal service.

Prayer Chain

This is an ongoing ministry. This is how it works…a prayer request comes in and the first person contacts the next by phone, who then continues the telephone chain, until all on the list are praying!  Contact the Prayer Chain coordinator at the Care Ministry telephone number.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided on an as needed basis.  This includes a visit to a doctor, grocery store, etc. Contact the care ministry number with your requests.

Divorce Care

We at St. Paul understand how real and painful divorce is in our community and are committed to providing a safe private group environment that offers a sense of direction in such difficult times. Divorce Care is a 13 week program that the entire family can participate in.  DC4K (Divorce Care for Kids) is provided in a format designed for children between the ages of 5 and 12 that pertains to the weekly topic for adults, which improves family communication. We at St. Paul will also provide childcare for children regardless of their age or willingness to participate in group. Please know that you are not alone in this journey and that people care about you, so please feel free to join us on Monday evenings between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM in our Parish House. The current program runs until May 22.  For more information please contact our Church Secretary @ 301-473-8626.
